ACT, SAT, PSAT/NMSQT and ASVAB Testing
Students are encouraged to take the ACT several times duing high school. These scores are a determing factor in how he/she will succeed in college. ACT scores are also used in determining scholarship awards. The national ACT is given at least 7 times per year on a Saturday morning. Please see attachment for specific national test dates.
The ACT is also given at the high school throughout the year. Make sure your student is keeping up with announcements regarding testing dates. Alerts will also be sent to parents.
Students on free/reduced lunches or who participate in Talent Search or Upward Bound qualify for up to 4 free tests during their Junior and Senior years.
The SAT is primarliy taken by students who plan on attending college outside the state of Oklahoma; however, any student may take the test. It is very important to check with individual colleges/universities about college entrance testing requirements.
The PSAT/NMSQT is given to any Junior who is interested in taking the test. It is an optional test. This test allows students to qualify for National Merit Scholar.
The ASVAB is primarlity used for military entrance but is also used as a tool for exploring various careers. Beginning with the 26-27 school year, all Juniors will take the ASVAB.
